Favicon Generator: create ICO and PNG favicons from one image
Upload one image and get a favicon.ico, PNG icons in common sizes, a web manifest and the HTML link tags to use them. Everything is created in your browser, and your image is not uploaded.
Create your favicons
Drag and drop an image here, or
PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG, up to 25 MB. A square image of at least 512 × 512 px works best.
Your files
Add these tags to the head of your pages
Upload the files to the root folder of your website so the paths in the tags work, or change the paths to match where you put them.
How to use the favicon generator
- Choose a square image, such as your logo. SVG, PNG, JPG and WebP are accepted.
- Choose a transparent or coloured background and, if you like, enter your site name.
- Check the previews, then download the files one by one or as a ZIP.
- Upload the files to your site's root folder and paste the tags into the head of your pages.
What you get
- favicon.ico containing 16, 32 and 48 pixel icons.
- favicon-16x16.png and favicon-32x32.png for browser tabs.
- apple-touch-icon.png (180 × 180) for iPhone and iPad home screens.
- android-chrome-192x192.png and android-chrome-512x512.png for Android and web app manifests.
- site.webmanifest, a small manifest that lists the two Android icons.
Limits and tips
- Images that are not square are centred in a square without cropping.
- Small source images are enlarged for the bigger icons and can look soft.
- Simple, bold shapes stay readable at 16 pixels. Fine detail and small text usually do not.
- Browsers cache favicons strongly, so a new icon can take a while to appear after you upload it.
- This tool does not create an SVG favicon or a monochrome icon for pinned tabs.
- Your image is processed in your browser and is not sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Do I still need favicon.ico?
Many sites include one because some tools and older browsers still request it. The tags above also point to PNG icons for modern browsers.
Why does my icon look blurry?
The source image is probably small or too detailed. Start from a larger square image with simple shapes.
What is the manifest for?
The web manifest tells Android and some browsers which icons to use when your site is saved to a home screen. Edit its name if the default does not suit your site.
